I'm Still Alive

For anyone who is still tuning in: despite evidence to the contrary, I have not dropped off the face of Earth.  I am here, in New Jersey now (!!), getting my act together.

It took way longer to get the house sorted and the family settled than I thought it would, but I have been back at work in a makeshift doll studio for about a month now, and I have some fun things coming up soon! The princess collection is *almost* ready to premiere, and I also have a few other Twinns to show you.  I've even branched out to work on a completely different brand of doll, and am excited to tell you more about that.

But I'm out of the habit of posting on the blog, so this entry is as much a kick in the butt for me as it is a sign-of-life signal for all of you.  Here's a peek at the doll I was working on in Maine and who I finished here in the Garden State.  She looks completely different now, but I adore her charming (yet very dirty) older self:

  2. The artist formerly known as Lurkins here. Congratulations on a successful move! I wasn't worried (moving is, like, one of the most stressful things ever, and moving states? yipes) but I'm very glad you're back! I can't wait to see the new dolls... and the new backdrops for you photos. XD

    1. Thank you, Lurkins! Your comments always make me smile. :)
One bad thing about my new location is that I don't have an area for outdoor photography...yet. So that's going to be a longer process. :/ It's still good to be back in the swing, though!

    2. Oh, no, no yard? I'm so sorry. I hope you won't be too homesick for Maine. Hopefully Jersey has plenty of new and interesting sights to see, though. Hugs!

    3. It's more that there's no backdrop. It's very densely-populated. But my clever husband is working on gardening options. ;) Jersey is awesome! I love it here! There's a whole sculpture garden near us. Maybe some day I'll get up the nerve to pose dolls there??

  4. Whoohoo! I've been checking the blog almost daily and singing 'Is There Life Out There' by Reba McEntire softly as I did. ;) Glad you're getting settled in and it's SO good to 'see' you again!

  6. I'm glad you're doing well! That Jessica is so pretty even pre-makeover. I love Jessicas who don't have "OMG SHOCKED!" eyebrows, haha.

    1. I know what you mean, Nikki!! This Jess has "I'm a little bit surprised" brows, and since they were original artist brows, I saved them. So at least I didn't make her more shocked than she already was. ;)

  8. I'm happy to see you're back Emily - I missed your posts, but I won't complain, because I know moving can be exhausting (also mentally!), so I was suspecting you're still in the process of adjusting to your new surroundings. I'm so happy to hear the moving went fine and you are enjoying yourself in New Jersey! I'll be looking forward to seeing your upcoming dolls, as well as the new garden, once your husband works out what to do with it :)

    1. Thank you so much, L. The hassles of moving are small compared to what a lot of people are going through right now, that's for sure. And now that the dust has settled, it's fun to explore a new place. We both feel like being in the Garden State requires us to have a spectacular garden...but we'll see how that goes. We're used to the untamed wilderness of Maine. ;)

    1. Hi Gaby, thank you for the welcome to your awesome state! Everyone here is *so* friendly. I'm in a bit of a friendliness arms race with one of my neighbors, lol. ;) It's also mind-blowing that we could be in Manhattan or Philadelphia in under an hour if we wanted. I can't wait for summer and more exploration!
