Ariels for Sale

The Ariels are all ready to find their new homes!  These gemstone girls were an unruly bunch to pack into one photo, but here's my best attempt:

My Twinn dolls with the Ariel face mold.
As a reminder, this was the "before" shot that I posted back in August (all the girls are in roughly the same positions, so you can see how much they've changed):

Back, from left: Mariel, Liriel
Front, fron left: Sariel, Cassiel (head), and Gabriel
I think that Cassiel and Mariel make wonderful sisters!

They're similar in feature and coloring, but also have enough little differences to make them distinct.

These two actually gave me an idea for a future collection where I'll pair two dolls with the same face mold and try to make them look like non-identical sisters.  I'm already excited about that collection, but I have a lot to do before I get to it!

Here's a close-up of Mariel with her new sash and peridot necklace:

The green is a little bit paler than I'd hoped, but at least the sash and the necklace match!

Here are the two extremes in coloring--Liriel and Gabriel:

These are also the two blue-eyed girls!

Gabriel photographs *way* better than Liriel, but they're both cute in their own way:

Liriel will come with this sweater and hat set (used, in decent shape) because I think we all agree that she looks Nordic:

Mariel and Sariel are the two green-eyed beauties...and also my two favorites:

They could also pass as sisters, I think!

Gabby and Sariel both have darker brows and hair, and I feel like it makes them very striking in photographs.  These are my two celebrities (Snow White and Brooke Shields!):

Those were all of the different combinations that I could think of to show you.

All of these girls have roughly the same skin tone--despite what it might look like in some of the pictures.  It's amazing how much hair and face paint can change the way a doll looks in photographs!

Anyway, next up are the sale details for each doll. All of them are from the Denver era and are with their original bodies.  Please read each doll's full blog post (linked to their names) if you would like to know more.

First, Cassiel:

Cassie has a beautiful premium reddish-brown wig, deep brown acrylic eyes, and an endearing expression sprinkled with a few freckles.  She's been through an epic saga of stain removal treatments, but currently has very few remnants of that part of her history.  She's a bit squeaky, has picks in her fabric torso, and a small mark on her nose.

Cassiel has sold.  Thank you!

Here's Gabriel:

Gaby had an uninspiring original look, but has totally come out of her shell with a striking new combination of dark hair and blue acrylic eyes.  She has a rosy face-up with full lips and freckle-free bright cheeks.  She has some squeaks and picks from being old, and there's an area of faint discoloration on her right arm that I didn't notice until recently.

Gabriel will come with a peasant dress, a sapphire-colored crystal pendant to represent the September birthstone (with matching sash), some simple feather wings, and a fairy light halo.  She does not have shoes.

Gabriel has sold.  Thank you!

Next, here's Sariel:

This gorgeous girl has green glass eyes and what I think is the most unique face paint that I achieved during this experiment.  Her luxurious ZaZou wig has only been finger-combed, and so it retains most of its original, wavy glory.  Sari had to overcome some bad staining on her legs, and there are faint remnants of this battle.  She's also a little squeaky and has some picks in her fabric, but that won't be what you focus on when you look at her.

Sariel will come with a peasant dress, an amethyst-colored crystal pendant to represent the February birthstone (with matching sash), some simple feather wings, and a fairy light halo.  She does not have shoes.

Sariel has found a wonderful new home. Thank you!

Here's Liriel:

This otherworldly girl was difficult to photograph, with her super-long, white-blonde hair and pale face paint.  She has beautiful blue glass eyes and barely-there eyebrows, and I think she fits the makeshift angel theme especially well.  She has a lot of picks and snags on her body, some squeaks in her armature, and she can't move her neck to the left as much as she can move it to the right.

Liriel will come with a peasant dress, an tourmaline-colored crystal pendant to represent the October birthstone (with matching sash), some simple feather wings, and a fairy light halo.  She will also come with a used My Twinn brand sweater and hat that look nice on her.  She does not have shoes.

Liri has found a wonderful new home.  Thank you!

Last but not least, here is Mariel:

This cute redhead has an abundance of freckles all over her face, and even some freckles on her arms!  Her luxurious wig has been cut and re-styled and is now full of new volume and character.  Her determined brows and piercing green acrylic eyes make her a force to be reckoned with.  Mariel has a lot of snags and picks on her cloth torso and some squeaking in her armature.

Mariel will come with a peasant dress, a peridot-colored crystal pendant to represent the August birthstone (with matching sash), some simple feather wings, and a fairy light halo.  She does not have shoes.

Mariel has sold.  Thank you!

  1. Emily, you really did a great job with each one of these dolls! And you take such wonderful photos, too. They all are unique and special, but I think Sariel is my favorite with Mariel coming in a close second :) I love your idea of not-identical sister dolls too! That will be so fun to see you do! Hugs, Rebecca

  3. As much as I love following each girl's transformation, my favorite part of your projects might be the group and paired up photographs! Love the sister idea-the cuddly sister series was one of my favorites. -Micah

  5. It is really fun to scroll between the first two pictures and try to find the elements that determined which doll would become which character, since they all have the same sculpt and skintone. It's interesting, for example that the initial blonde ended up with the darkest hair. I can't stop marveling at your inspiration and creativity. The sisters series is an excellent idea! I was actually looking at the group and picking a pair that would approximate me and my sister (Gabriel and Mariel) when I came across that sentence. Will you do that after the princesses?
